The LY80 is a D Band TWT intended for general purpose pulse power operations. It can be
supplied with either cathode modulation or low voltage beam switching grid for pulse length
and prf flexibility. The tube is rated at 2kW minimum peak power output, 45dB gain and
10% duty ratio up to pulse length of 15ìS. The two 300MHz frequency bands are achieved
by variation of the cathode voltage. The compact, rugged tube is of metal ceramic
construction using ppm focusing and weighs less than 6kg.

performance. It uses a proven compact transformer rectifier unit in the high voltage
supplies and floating deck grid modulator.

electrode voltages to the high standards of stability and ripple required for modern radar
systems performance. It uses a compact transformer rectifier unit in the high voltage
supplies and a fast FET floating deck grid modulator. Built in features such as monitoring,
control and protection circuits ensure safe operation; if required BITE (built in test
equipment) can be provided, which simplifies fault finding and maintenance. The LY74 TWTA
uses forced air cooling and is designed for operation in military environments.

withstanding stringent environmental conditions.

operates from a 28 volt DC power source. The power supply provides all of the TWT

operate in pulse or CW modes. It is designed to self protect against major fault conditions and
can operate in a Remote or Local control situation. LED indicators provide control and fault

AHT-300 series

AHT-300

The AHT-300 series of conduction-cooled communications travelling wave tubes are
designed to meet the stringent requirements of military environments. They are lightweight,
rugged and compact with high levels of efficiency.
The TWTs incorporate a helix slow wave structure, periodic permanent magnet focussing
and a double stage depressed collector for enhanced efficiency and produce 300 W
minimum output power.
An optional linearizer is available providing significantly enhanced carrier to intermodulation
ratio allowing linear operation at higher output power. With the linearizer in place 150 W
output is available with a 3rd order intermodulation product of –26 dBc.
An output coupler allowing monitoring of forward and reverse power output is a further
optional feature.

The RF amplifier unit AHTA-12-200 is designed for use in naval ECM systems. A high voltage
power supply which powers this unit is available and the combined system is type AHPA-12-
200. The R.F amplifier consists of a TWT, FET amplifier, harmonic phase shifter, gain
equaliser, directional coupler, high VSWR protection circuit, a waveguide window to stop the
ingress of moisture and an integral cooling fan with a Fan Commutating Module. The unit
