terminations

The Albacom Microwave range of low and high power terminations is designed to absorb microwave power with minimum VSWR and have been specifically designed for the common Satellite Communications frequency bands but other frequency ranges are available.

These units comprise a length of waveguide into which is inserted a power absorber designed to absorb the microwave energy with minimum reflected power. The heat generated by the absorption is dissipated by means of heat sinks and fan assisted forced air, where necessary.

Low Power

Albacom Microwave low power terminations are constructed using selected drwan tube and precision tapered absorbing elements to achieve low VSWR performance.

Construction is of copper waveguide with brass flanges and matt black paint finish as standard.

High Power

Albacom Microwave range of medium and high power terminations are designed
specifically to meet the stringent requirements of the commercial and military
satellite uplink markets. Optimum thermal performance is achieved using design
techniques that ensure even power distribution per unit length and low thermal
resistance between the absorbing element and heat sink.

All high power units are designed to withstand a pressure of 350mbar and styles 3,
4 and 5 include appropriate fixing holes for either horizontal or vertical mounting.

All units have a matt black paint finish as standard.

waveguide to coaxial adaptors

Albacom Microwve’s waveguide –coaxial adaptors permit reciprocal transmission between coaxial and waveguide media with minimum insertion loss and VSWR. The units exhibit superior performance over the full waveguide band. We supply products ranging from WG10/WR 284 (lowest frequencies) to WG20/WR 42 (highest frequencies)

The products comprise a length of waveguide blanked at one end and flanged at the other. A coaxial connector with an integral probe is located at an appropriate point on the broad wall of the waveguide. Broad- band tuning techniques are used to provide superior VSWR performance over the full frequency range of the waveguide. For the waveguide ranges WR137 to WR42 we do have units which are made from a solid block of Aluminium giving reduced weight.

Standard materials and finishes:

Waveguide –Copper
Flanges –Brass
SMA connector-Stainless Steel
N-Type Connector-Stainless Steel
Exterior Surfaces-Matt Black Paint

couplers

Albacom Microwave Single cross guide couplers are perfect for monitoring forward and reverse powers in a waveguide feed /run and for injecting a signal(s) into the waveguide. In addition to our standard products, a range has been specifically designed for the Satellite Communications Frequency bands over which performance has been optimised.

The products comprise a length of waveguide (Main Line) with a length of waveguide mounted perpendicular to a broad wall of the waveguide to form the Secondary Arm. The mainline waveguide is flanged at both ends and for certain options the secondary arm is flanged at both ends. For other options, the secondary arm is terminated at one end and flanged at the other (output) end. The output of the secondary arm can also be terminated with a connector having an integral probe mounted appropriately on the broad wall of the secondary arm. The mainline waveguide can be extended to include several output arms.

Standard materials and finishes:

Flanges –Brass

filters

Albacom Microwave provides a very wide range of waveguide filters and diplexers covering the following types:

  • Band Pass
  • Band Stop
  • Low Pass
  • Harmonic Rejection
  • Notch
  • Non-Contiguous Combiners
  • Receive Diplexers
  • Transmit Diplexers

Each filter is specific to a particular requirement and therefore only a limited range is given in our data sheets. This range is primarily designed for Satellite Communications deployment. However, equivalents are available for other applications in most frequency ranges.

transitions

Albacom Microwave’s range of Waveguide transitions permit the co-joining of two waveguides of different but appropriate dimensions. The transitions can be realised as smooth tapers or as a series of waveguide transformers. The transitions can be supplied with the widest range of flanges.
